Runway is a suite of AI video tools. The flagship feature is Gen-3 Alpha — a text-to-video and image-to-video model that generates 5-10 second clips with impressive realism.

Text-to-video and image-to-video
Text-to-video: Describe a scene and Runway generates a short clip.
Image-to-video: Upload a still image and Runway animates it — making water flow, hair move, products rotate.
Image-to-video tends to produce more predictable results because you have more control over the starting frame.

Current limitations
Runway clips are short — 5-10 seconds. Consistency between multiple clips is still a challenge, which makes it difficult to create longer narratives where the same character or object appears across clips.
For social media content and short-form video, these limitations don't matter much. For long-form, you're still better off with traditional video production.
